This historical short story is set in the late 1800s and depicts a young woman and her daughter in their struggle to escape the oppression of an abusive and dominating man.  Rescued by the mystical and magical Bell who appears suddenly, Elizabeth recovers from the death of two of her infants shortly after their birth and changes the future for her surviving young daughter Sara Jane.
